Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about the Open Accessible widget, accounts, and WCAG 2.2.
Getting Started
How do I get a Site ID?
Create a free account in the Dashboard. Add your website and you'll receive a unique Site ID (e.g. oa_abc123). Use it in the embed script's data-site-id attribute.
Does the widget work without a Site ID?
Yes. Omit data-site-id and data-api-url for fully offline, self-hosted use. All accessibility features work—you just won't get analytics.
How do I add the widget to my site?
Add one line before </body>: <script src="https://openaccessible.com/cdn/open-accessible/1.0.0/widget.min.js" data-site-id="YOUR_ID" data-api-url="https://openaccessible.com"></script>
Accounts & Plans
What's the difference between Hobbyist and Organization?
Hobbyist accounts are free with 1 website. Organization accounts ($29/mo) allow unlimited websites, full analytics, and API access.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. Hobbyist is free forever with 1 website. You can also self-host the widget with no account required.
Fonts & Reading
What is the dyslexia-friendly font?
We use OpenDyslexic—a font designed to improve readability for people with dyslexia. Select it from the widget's "Font style" dropdown under Text & reading.
What is the readable font option?
The Readable (serif) option uses Georgia/Cambria—serif fonts that many find easier for long-form reading. Choose between Normal, Readable, or Dyslexia-friendly in the widget.
Integrations
How do I add to WordPress?
Edit footer.php or use the "Insert Headers and Footers" plugin. Add the script before </body>. See our Plugins page for full guides.
Does it work with Shopify / Wix / Squarespace?
Yes. Each platform has custom code injection. See Plugins & Integrations for step-by-step instructions.
WCAG & Compliance
Does this guarantee WCAG 2.2 compliance?
The widget helps address many success criteria (e.g. text resizing, contrast, focus) but does not guarantee full compliance. You remain responsible for your site's accessibility.
What's the keyboard shortcut?
Press Ctrl+Shift+A (or Cmd+Shift+A on Mac) to toggle the accessibility panel.
